FAQs

Do I need a reason to start therapy?

No. You don’t need to be in crisis or have a clear reason to begin therapy. Many people come because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply want support and space to reflect. Curiosity, tiredness, or a sense that something isn’t quite right is enough.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy may be helpful if you’re feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from yourself. A free consultation gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share what’s bringing you here, and get a sense of whether working together feels like the right fit.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know you. We’ll gently explore what’s been happening in your life, what you’re finding difficult, and what you hope therapy might support you with. There’s no pressure to share everything straight away - we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That’s completely okay. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear agenda. Therapy isn’t about performing or explaining things perfectly. We’ll take things slowly and explore whatever feels most present for you in that moment.

How long will I need therapy for?

There’s no fixed timeline. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns. We’ll check in regularly to ensure therapy continues to feel supportive and aligned with your needs.

How often will we meet?

Most clients choose weekly or fortnightly sessions. Together, we’ll find a rhythm that feels manageable and supportive for you.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal and safety exceptions. These exceptions will be explained clearly at the beginning of our work together, so you know exactly where confidentiality boundaries sit.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I offer online therapy sessions via a secure video platform. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions and allows you to attend from the comfort of your own space.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

I offer [in-person sessions / online only]. If in-person therapy is available, sessions take place in a calm, private setting designed to feel safe and welcoming.

What if therapy brings up difficult emotions?

Therapy can sometimes bring up challenging feelings, but this is always approached with care, support, and grounding. You’re never expected to go further than feels safe, and we move at a pace that respects your emotional wellbeing.

What if I become overwhelmed during a session?

If you feel overwhelmed, we slow things down. We may pause, ground, or shift focus. Your comfort and sense of safety are always the priority.

Do you diagnose mental health conditions?

I don’t focus on diagnosis. My approach centres on understanding your experiences, emotions, and patterns with compassion rather than labels.

Can therapy help if my life looks “fine” on the outside?

Yes. Many people come to therapy even when things appear okay externally. Therapy isn’t about comparing struggles - it’s about supporting your inner experience.
